The Beauty of Wood

I love to look at the patterns that stacked wood make. We burn 14-15 cords a year, so much of our life is dedicated to cutting down trees, bringing them out from the woods, cutting them to length, then splitting the blocks so that they fit in the furnace. Since Neil sells firewood too, the cycle continues. As the old saying says, wood does warm you up many times!

It also makes me smile that the dog is so colour coordinated! She doesn't like the bell ringing, but always enjoys being out in the snow.

It's been a long, cold winter so my secret desire to start a blog has surfaced again.  This time, I'm going for it.  The trouble with reading blogs is that you think that what you have to say is unimportant, but my little part of the world is a beautiful place and maybe that would be of interest to others.  So, here goes with my life of music, quilting, knitting, riding, and family.

  1. I love your blog. Your life is so different from mine that it is very interesting to read about what you do. In Brisbane it is generally warm all the time. We live on acreage but we are very close to town and live a city life accept for our lovely surroundings. I took the step to blog when I needed some encouragement for my quilting and I love it.

  2. Love your blog! We had a wood stove when we were not in the city. Fabulous when the power went out!
